Project description:

Current major transport projects – such as level crossing removals, North East Link and the Suburban Rail Loop – have the potential to fundamentally change how people can move around Melbourne’s eastern region and are a key advocacy focus for councils and the ERG.

In addition to providing improved transport options, the ERG wants to ensure that significant opportunities for providing more sustainable and active travel, creating value and  placemaking  are also realised through the careful design and strong local input to these projects.

To date, frustrations continue due to a lack of integration, lack of placemaking focus and negative impacts on local businesses, residents and open space.

Ultimately this project will contribute to the vision of an integrated transport system for Melbourne’s east by 2040 in a low carbon world, that also allows the idea of ’20-minute neighbourhoods’ to become a reality.
